Frequently asked questions

What is romanized typing?

Typing "namaste" on an English keyboard produces "नमस्ते". No separate Devanagari keyboard install needed.

Where can I use the output?

Click Copy and paste into Facebook, WhatsApp, Gmail, Word documents, government forms, or anywhere that supports Unicode Nepali.

How does the tool work?

When you press Space, the last romanized word converts to Devanagari. Press Backspace right after a converted word to get its roman letters back and fix it. Keep an internet connection available for conversion suggestions.

Is this tool free?

Yes. No account needed, no fees. It's an open web tool. Use it as much as you want.

How to keep English words?

Put them in curly braces: {Facebook} keeps "Facebook" in English while the rest converts to Devanagari.

Will my text still be here when I come back?

Yes. The text box keeps your draft in this browser, so it is still there after you leave and come back or reload the page. Click Clear to remove it.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. On a phone, type in the box and tap a suggestion to pick a spelling. Typing practice and tests still need a laptop or desktop with a physical keyboard.
