How to type Nepali on your phone
Add a Nepali keyboard on Android or iPhone, or type romanized Nepali in the browser without installing anything.
Android
Gboard, the keyboard on most Android phones, includes Nepali. Open the keyboard settings, choose Languages, add Nepali, and pick either the Devanagari keyboard or the Latin version that converts romanized spelling as you type. Switch languages from the space bar.
iPhone
Open Settings, then General, then Keyboard, then Keyboards, and add Nepali. The iOS Nepali keyboard shows Devanagari letters directly. Third-party keyboards from the App Store add romanized typing if you prefer spelling words in English letters.
No keyboard at all
For an occasional message, open the Type in Nepali tool in the phone browser, write the words in English spelling, and copy the Devanagari result into any app. It works on every phone and needs no settings.
Practising on a phone
Typing practice measures finger placement on a physical keyboard, so NepaliType runs the practice on desktops and laptops. On a phone, use the converter and the Type in Nepali tool, and read the lessons to learn the layout before you sit at a keyboard.
